Delight in Southern Food at Madison’s, Port Royal, SC

Find Upscale Southern Food made with Local Fresh Ingredients! We found a hidden gem in the small town of Port Royal, SC. The restaurant is tucked away behind Main Street, draped by Oak Trees and Spanish Moss. Madison’s is a local family-owned and operated restaurant. It’s a smaller place as most unique family-owned restaurants are in the south. We had plenty to taste and all of it was good! The wait staff was very friendly, and the service was very good. They are open Tuesday-Saturday. Lunch from 11-2 p.m, and Dinner from 5-9 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Here’s what we recommend from an amazing menu!

Recommended Appetizers

If you could only choose one thing, do not go without getting their deviled eggs!! As we are foodies, we have had many deviled eggs before, but I will honestly tell you these were the best!! Unfortunately, you only get 4 and they are $9.95! But here’s why the price is steep and worth it. The 4 are samplings of the southern classic, oyster & fennel, pickled shrimp, and spicy crab! Is your mouth watering yet? My favorite was the Oyster & Fennel!! Did you ever think they would go together? Yes, they do! Here’s a close-up!

The fried green tomatoes would be our close second choice! It consists of tomato jam, pimento cheese, sweet pepper jus, and balsamic syrup. You could practically come here, and enjoy their appetizers alone!

Entree’s

If you are in search of fish, consider the Grilled Mahi-Mahi sandwich. It has melted Gruyere, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and charred jalapeno- lime aioli on a Madison’s stamped bun. It was yummy! And the fries are very good too, as they were crispy. They are different from other burger joints and their typical fries.

If you like grits, consider the Garden and Grits dish! I promise you will not regret it! It consists of asparagus tips, mushrooms, tomatoes, red onions, and spinach sautéed with roasted red pepper gravy over smoked cheddar grits.

Another amazing dish is their Crabcakes! Lemon and grain mustard aioli, mixed greens, sliced tomato & bacon on a brioche roll. One of the finest crab cakes we have ever had in the south!

The Salmon BLT is another great dish we had an opportunity to try at Madison’s. It is a grilled Atlantic Salmon Fillet, mixed greens, ripe tomato, crispy bacon, avocado, and red pepper remoulade.

All the desserts looked amazing, but unfortunately/fortunately, depending on how you look at it, we were stuffed and did not have room for dessert. But I did want to tell you that they had Banana Pie, Ice Cream Sundae, Crème Brulee, Key Lime Pie, and Flour-Less Chocolate Brownie! Needless to say, we will be back and will add dessert to our list! Bon Appetit!
