How Much Does it Cost to Get in Hunting Island State Park?

Hunting Island State Park Reservations

Hunting Island State Park is the most popular state park in South Carolina. Therefore, booking 13 months in advance is highly recommended and is the earliest time you can book your spot. Your family can either book one of their 125 campsites, cabin, and day-use picnic areas. You can either book by calling the office directly at 843.838.4868 or go to this website. Most campsite reservations require a minimum of a 2-night stay. The maximum night of stay is 14 nights. The site must be occupied by the primary reservation holder.

Fishing at Hunting Island State Park

Fishing is allowed at Hunting Island State Park. You must have a state saltwater fishing license. Common fish found include red drum, spots, sheepshead, whiting, and a variety of different kinds of sharks.

Hunting Island State Park Lighthouse

As mentioned earlier, admission to the Lighthouse costs $2 per person. You must be at least 44 inches tall to climb. There is no elevator to get to the top. The lighthouse has 167 steps to get to the top. The tower itself was built in 1873.

It does get pretty cold in January and February but this is definitely the quietest time of the year so you get more time to explore. During the rest of the year, you may want to bring bug spray and sunscreen. It gets pretty humid in sunny South Carolina. Humidity is highest in August so best be prepared!
